 1. Market review SAP and Oracle.


Since a few years IT market in Poland is gradually expanding, more and more companies decide to set up their business here and are very successful in those ventures. The companies are usually located in major cities in Poland due to availability of suitable employees – experienced specialists as well as fresh graduates. Vast amount of IT business is located in the capital city – Warsaw, however, new IT centers have developed also in cities such as Cracow and Poznan.

 

1.1        Warsaw

Being the biggest city in Poland, Warsaw is a place where a lot of international companies have its main offices or branches. It results in availability of specialists having experience with different technologies, even those less popular. However, it’s also candidate-driven market so the expectations of the potential employees, both financial and non-financial, are much higher than in any other cities. Since there are many technical schools, most renowned being: Warsaw University of Technology, Military University of Technology, IT Department of Warsaw University  and Polish – Japanese Institute of Information Technology, a lot of fresh graduates are available on the market. Most of them start their careers during their studies so at the time they graduate they already have some valuable experience. In terms of SAP specialists there are several companies that employ such people – for example SAP Polska, S&T, Accenture HP or IBM and many more companies from pharmaceutical and FMCG sector that have their own specialized employees. Oracle experts can be found in numerous consulting companies such as IT Kontrakt, CGI or Sii, financial institutions and majority of major companies on the market. 

1.2        Cracow

Although much smaller from Warsaw, Cracow is also a place where IT companies willingly set up their businesses. The city has several technical universities such as AGH University of Science and Technology and Cracow University of Technology, where good specialists are trained, and some big IT companies that enable those graduates to further develop their skills. In terms of SAP these companies are Electrolux Business, Consulting Center, IT Solution Expert and FMCG companies such as UPM Kymmene, Phillip Morris and British American Tabacco. Oracle experts can be found in companies such as Capgemini, Comarch and a few banks. Although financial expectations of those specialists may be lower their number on the market is still much smaller.  

1.3        Poznan

In terms of the size of the IT market in Poland, Poznań is the fourth biggest city. There are two main companies that deal with SAP technologies and where various types of SAP experts specialized in different modules can be found – Itelligence and BCC. There are also numerous companies that employ SAP Specialist (Roche, Carlsberg, Eurocash, Jeronimo or GSK) but those are mainly Key users of particular modules. What is more, due to location SAP Specialists living in the vicinity often work on contracts in Germany what makes Poznań less attractive in terms of setting up a SAP competency center there. As for Oracle specialists, there are also fewer of them. They work in companies such as Infovide–Matrix, Arvato, BCC, Altkom, Comarch and Roche

 When candidate is hired on the basic work contract rules the notice period is:

Up to 3 years of work in this company – 1 month

After 3rd year of work in this company – 3 months

 

3. Extra bonuses.

 

3.1. Annual Bonus.

Most of the employers offer some kind of financial bonuses. Most popular is the annual bonus, which is usually paid at the end of the year and constitutes 100 – 150% of the gross monthly salary

3.2. Medical care.

One of the standard benefits in Poland is private medical care provided by medical centers such as Medicover, Lux-Med or LIM r. It’s not expensive when a company buys a group package. Estimated cost is around 100PLN per person for an unlimited access card.

3.3. Sport activities.

It’s also very common to give Benefit System cards or other club memberships that give’s our employees a chance to participate in various sport activities in gyms, fitness centers or yoga classes. The cost of such card is quite low under a condition that most of the employees decide to sign up for it.

3.4. Trainings

What seems to be especially important as far as IT market is concerned is a training package designed to enable employees on particular positions to develop their technical skills. Since it’s a field that requires being in touch with latest technologies the candidate value employers that make it possible for them to participate in various trainings

3.5 Relocation Package

In case of candidates who are required to relocate in order to become an employee of a given company, very common bonus is a relocation package. It is an amount of money that allows a candidate to move their possessions and sometimes it even covers the first rent.

 

Very often, depending on the position, there’s a company car or pool-car associated with management and top positions or if a given job requires significant amount of travelling.

We should also remember that each company has its own advantages and benefit methods to encourage best candidates from the market to join them.
